Dedicated Server customers enjoy all of the benefits of our Colocation customer's with regards to the Datacenter. Additionally, we provide remote hands for the customers as well as operating system setup and support. The customer is responsible for all custom applications and specialized hosting configurations.

Hardware Solution is based on Multi-processor, HP DL585 Servers connected via dual path Fiber Channel to an EMC-CX310i SAN. The fiber fabric includes dual HBAs in each host to two different fiber channel switches providing path and switch redundancy. The Host platform is based on VMWARE ESX Server 3.5. This software allows for automatic load balancing, high availability fail-over, and outage free maintenance on the host platforms. Snapshots of customer server can be made prior to major upgrade or configuration changes that will allow for a roll-back of committed changes. The virtual servers themselves run independent; in so much as they operate and feel like normal servers. Drives will be provisioned off of a SATA drive shelf unless otherwise specified by the customer.

Here is a diagram detailing our virtual server infrastructure. From the picture you can see that there is multiple path redundancy between the hosts and the storage. This eliminates any single point of failure that could prevent the hosts from seeing the virtual machines stored on the SAN.

The SAN is an EMC CX310i with 1.5TB of Fiber Channel storage and 8TB of SATA storage. Both storage arrays are RAID5 with hot standby drives, and the drive shelves and controllers are connected via 2GB/4GB fiber channel connections

The host servers are DL585, quad, dual-core processor boxes with 16GB of RAM per host (upgradeable to 64GB per host.) Having three hosts places us in the position to lose one host completely for maintenance windows, etc, without affecting virtual machine performance. Each host is dual power supply, dual HBA connection to the fiber channel infrastructure.

We run VMWare ESX 3.5 Server with virtual center 2.5. VMWare's solution offers great redundancy and high availability with the ability to physically unplug the power from one of the hosts and have all virtual servers migrate on their own to the two remaining hosts. VMWare also automatically load balances between the three available host platforms.

This cluster resides in our data center with AC and Generator backup, dual fiber path in an out of the building as well as redundant HVAC. Each Server has 6 NIC cards with GIGE network connections to two different Catalyst 6500 Switches. We truly have built redundancy into the solution from the ground up.
